Live @ Paste
recorded live at Paste Magazine
January 27, 2006
*available exclusively at ITunes
released: May 16, 2006
Slip Away / Through My Door / Working My Way / Breathe In Breathe Out

When I first heard that we were going to go visit the Paste offices I was thrilled. The group really didn't know what to expect. We had to do a tv spot at the offices as well. This took a while but gave some of our band members a little time to hang out with the staff before the performance. They're whole staff treated us great. They were very appreciative of us stopping by. Its always nice to get compliments on your music especially from such an admirably magazine. It just confirms why we love playing music. Seeing peoples reactions your creations can be priceless at times. We got out the acoustics and they started bringing in some mics and mic stands. We had no idea that they were planning on recording it. We usually like to get as many recording as possible. We just usually have a heads up. That was a bit of a curve that turned into a strike. I remember thinking to myself, "This is going to sound terrible". Boy was I wrong. It was nice to get a stripped down recording of some our songs. It seemed to really show off our groups rootsy sound which wasn't really a big focus on our album, "Front Of The Parade". We got a great response from the staff whom we hung out with afterwards and talked over some pizza and drinks. All in all it was a great experience that I'll never forget. Hopefully we get the chance to continue our good relationship with the magazine which has introduced so many music fans to new music they would have never heard otherwise.

Live @ XM
recorded live @ XM Radio
November 4, 2005
*available exclusively at ITunes
released: May 4, 2006
Cigarettes & Magazines / Through My Door / Hold On / Slip Away / Warning Sign / Fool / Working My Way / Weather With You

We really had no idea what to expect on our way to the studios of XM Radio. I honestly thought it was very possible that it was a very underground operation, run out of a single story white house. Well, we were quite overwhelmed at the size of the building, roughly four stories and an entire city block of D.C., in the former site of the National Geographic Printing House. Very impressive. We were met at the door by the studio manager and given a tour of the entire place, saw more studio and recording booths that one could count, met Bob Edwards, and really felt like we were impersonating U2. So this live recording was a lot of fun, we set up in one of the studios, had the privilege of working with Quinn, our engineer. Live recordings are one of the most nerve racking experiences, and this was no exception. In hindsight, it was one of the most fun experiences we have had to date, and look forward to returning to visit our good friends at XM very soon.

Losing Sleep
released: December, 2001
Working My Way / First to Leave / When the Morning Comes / Elizabeth / Mercy / Cannonball / Forgiven / Anywhere / Happy Inn
Losing Sleep is a special record to me. I hold it dearly for several reasons. Among these are:
It was my first recorded record with the band and it was a great time of creativity for us... We were pretty much in the driver seat on what parts got recorded, and the arrangements of the songs. It felt good to be in the studio for two solid weeks just laying down tracks for the record. We had an idea to put the album title up for vote on our website. We gave fans 2 weeks [If I remember correctly] to vote on the name, and we had a great response. We had titles such as "Spare Change" and "Losing Sleep" among others. But in the end "Losing Sleep" won over the others by a convincing margin. That was during MP3.com's heyday and we had great successes there with our music. A pre-release version of "Working My Way" did very well on the MP3.com music charts. It was a good time for us. I had a great day job at the time that allowed me the time off so I could focus on the recording. Rob came down from South Bend during that time. Collen's studio was top notch and lots of entertainment options were available. We had "James Bond" on the N64 at the time. Sega games on the Dreamcast were popular as well.. First to Leave and Forgiven will always stand out to me. I hope we will be able to re-do those songs someday for a wider audience. I think we can do the songs justice

Forgot to Breathe
released: October, 1998
Fool / Through My Door / When I Fall / Untitled / Ellen's Song / Longitudes / Hundefuter / The Stripper Song
I was looking back through my diary the other day and found an entry from when we were recording Forgot to Breathe. "We put organ and final vocals on "Fool" and "Through My Door" tonight. Sounds awesome. I'm a lot more tired than I thought...sorry Rob. When you read this in twenty years, try to remember how good it felt." Well, it hasn't been twenty years - but I'm still having a hard time remembering. We were so young - and the first record feels like an entire lifetime ago. It was such a fun experience - recording a first record at good ol' Star Studios in Bowling Green. I remember we'd always get copies of the songs at the end of the night and drive the twenty minutes back to our dorms with the windows down and the volume at full blast. Sure, it all sounds a little dated now - but it's still a special record for all of us. Amy's voice on "When I Fall" still gives me chills. The goofiness of "Hundefuter" and "Stripper" still make me laugh. And I can hear the promise in songs like "Fool" and "Through My Door" - two songs that are still staples of our live show.
